HOTS

Higher-Order Thinking Skills (HOTS) are focused not only on simple observation or memorization. It needed critical thinking in such situations such as solving problems, communicating and comrehencing information. It is also labeled as a systematic method in students' development.

Based on the picture above, it is a visual description of the process of developing HOTS. The process itself is really important. As we can see, teachers coming up with the objectives and how the activities should be done are also part of HOTS because the learning outcomes are crucial for students.

According to Paul and Elder (2007), “Much of our thinking, left to itself, is biased, distorted, partial, uninformed or down-right prejudiced.  Yet the quality of our life and that of which we produce, make, or build depends precisely on the quality of our thought.”  Critical thinking is therefore the foundation of a strong education.

HOTS is also tied together with Bloom's Taxonomy because to ensure the development of HOTS, we need to use Bloom's Taxonomy as a guide. The picture below shows the link between HOTS and Bloom's Taxonomy.
